Project guidance for contractors and design teams

Priority

HES Basin Solutions

A dedicated service for civil construction teams: dosing stations, standard and bespoke chemistry options, jar testing, calibration and in-house RPEQ support for High Efficiency Sediment Basins.

Open

Owner resource / H₂S

What is hydrogen sulphide — and what does it mean for your assets?

A practical guide to worker exposure, sewer corrosion, odour complaints and lifecycle decisions for water and wastewater teams.

Sewer H₂S, odour & corrosion control

For water utilities and asset owners managing network sulphide, odour, corrosion risk, dosing performance and worker-safety questions.

Multiple chemistry options. One performance question.

Septine, Suppressor and magnesium hydroxide (pH Elixir Basic and Premium) are separate options—not a single product range. Suitability is assessed against the network duty and site evidence.

Calibration is not tied to chemical supply.

We can assess actual dosing and report performance whether the chemistry is supplied by Critical Elixirs or another provider.

Sewer programmes

Sewer H₂S, odour & corrosion control

A site-scoped programme to manage sulphide formation, odour and corrosion risk across sewer networks. Septine, Suppressor and magnesium hydroxide (pH Elixir Basic and Premium) are distinct chemistry options. Dosing calibration and performance reporting can also be scoped independently of the chemistry supplier.

Sewer dosing

Septine sewer dosing

Septine is our bespoke chemistry option for hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) and sulphide control in sewer utility networks. It is assessed against the network duty and available data alongside other distinct chemistry options, with dosing and engineering support available from the same team.

Named chemistry

Suppressor

Suppressor is a liquid chemistry for sewer applications that suppresses sulphide formation while the dose and residual are maintained. Suitability and operating settings are confirmed for the network.

Magnesium Hydroxide for Odour & Corrosion Control

Magnesium hydroxide liquid supplies alkalinity for pH control and can help manage hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) release in suitable sewer applications. Critical Elixirs combines chemistry selection with in-network dosing efficacy calibration: checking what the pump delivers, where the treatment reaches and how downstream conditions respond.

Sewer monitoring

H₂S monitoring & dosing performance optimisation

Use network and operating evidence to assess H₂S performance, identify where conditions shift and refine the dosing programme against agreed measures. The review can assess existing chemistry regardless of supplier.

Details
Independent calibration

In-network dosing efficacy calibration & dose tracing

Trace dosed product through the network, calibrate actual equipment delivery and report performance. This service can be scoped for your existing chemistry whether it is supplied by Critical Elixirs or another provider.

Details
Monitoring

Remote gas monitoring

Remote gas monitoring for sewer and related duties, with sensor selection, location and reporting needs determined with the team for the site.

Engineering

Odour control sizing

Size an odour-control approach from the chemical and gas data available, the duty and the physical constraints—not from a generic unit assumption.

Engineering

Corrosion & asset economics

A practical estimate of corrosion-related asset implications and treatment economics, with assumptions made explicit rather than savings promised.

Workplace safety support

Workplace H₂S exposure assessment & compliance support

A scoped technical review to help frame H₂S exposure information against applicable STEL/TWA requirements for the relevant jurisdiction and date. This is not occupational hygiene certification.
